Public Service Productivity - Public Service Output, Input and Productivity: Education, 2010
The latest National Statistics on Education Productivity produced by the Office for National Statistics were released on 25 November 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
Statistics on inputs and outputs include data for England, Scotland and Wales for the period 1996 to 2009. Statistics on productivity for the UK cover the period 1996 to 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on December 2009.
The key points from the latest release are:
- The Article suggests that for the UK as a whole between 1996 and 2009 education output increased by 36.6 per cent, giving an annual average growth of 2.4 per cent. Wales grew 30.7 per cent giving an annual average growth of 2.1 per cent.
- Over the same period for the UK the volume of inputs increased by 36.8 per cent, or 2.4 per cent per year.
- Productivity, which is a ratio of outputs to inputs, declined by 0.1 per cent between 1996 to 2009.
