Municipal Waste Management Report, 2009-10
The latest National Statistics on municipal waste produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 16 November 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
The release includes information about the amount of municipal waste collected from household and non-household sources and the levels of recycling in Wales. The information presented relates to 2009-10, together with figures for previous years.
The key points from the latest bulletin are:

- The total amount of municipal waste (excluding abandoned vehicles) produced in Wales has continued to fall over the last 5 years, with less than 1.7 million tonnes produced in 2009-10.
- Whilst landfill is still the main form of management of municipal waste, the use of landfill sites has decreased, with less than 1 million tonnes sent to landfill in 2009-10.
