Consumer and Retail Price Indices (UK), October 2010
The latest National Statistics on Consumer Price Indices produced by the Office for National Statistics were released on 16th November 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
Statistics on Consumer Price, Retail Price and Retail Price (excluding mortgage interest payments) indices include data to October 2010. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 12th October 2010.
The Consumer Price Index is an internationally comparable measure of inflation and is also used to compare inflation rates across the European Union.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October 2010:
- In the 12 months to October 2010, the CPI rose by 3.2 per cent, up from 3.1 per cent for the 12 months to September 2010.
- In October 2010, the CPI stood at 115.2 (2005=100).
The all items Retail Price Index (RPI) for October 2010:
- In the 12 months to October 2010, the all items RPI rose by 4.5 per cent, down from 4.6 per cent for the 12 months to September 2010.
- In October 2010, the all items RPI stood at 225.8 (January 1987=100).
The RPI excluding mortgage interest payments (RPIX) for October 2010:
- In the 12 months to October 2010, the all items RPIX rose by 4.6 per cent, unchanged from the 12 months to September 2010.
- In October 2010, the RPIX stood at 224.9 (January 1987=100).
