Internal UK migration:

  • The number of people moving into Wales from the rest of the UK in the twelve months ending September 2009 was around 50,000. The number of people moving from Wales to the rest of the UK was around 48,700. This gives a net inward migration of around 1,300 for the period September 2008 to September 2009.  This is less than the net inward migration figure of 3,600 for the previous 12 months, but is higher than the net inward migration figure of 600 for the 12 months ending June 2009.

Information and data published jointly today include:

  • Migration Statistics Quarterly Report, May 2010. This summarises the different quarterly datasets.
