Annual Business Survey 2009 (formerly known as Annual Business Inquiry (ABI2)): Provisional Regional Results

The latest National Statistics on the Annual Business Survey (ABS) were released on 28 July 2011 by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics included in ABS cover provisional regional results for 2009 and revised regional results for 2008.  These regional estimates are consistent with United Kingdom national results for the ABS released on 14 June 2011. They do not cover the whole economy, omitting much of the public sector, finance and agriculture.

Between 2008 and 2009, for the sectors covered by the Annual Business Survey in Wales:

  • Turnover fell by 8.2 per cent from £93.5 billion to £85.9 billion.
  • Approximate gross value added at basic prices (GVA) fell by 7.2 per cent from £26.5 billion to £24.6 billion.
