Staff at Further Education Institutions, 2009/10
The latest statistics on staff at Further Education Institutions in Wales, produced by the Welsh Government were released on 21 July 2011 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
Statistics on staff at Further Education Institutions were collected from the institutions by the Department for Education and Skills (DFES) via the Finance Record. Previous releases were sourced by the Staff Individualised Record (SIR); however, this collection has been suspended due to resource issues.
The key points from the latest release are:
- During 2009/10, staff numbers, directly employed by FE Institutions in Wales, amounted to 8,530 full time equivalents (FTEs).
- The overall number of staff FTEs, directly employed by FE institutions in Wales, fell by 3 per cent between 2008/09 and 2009/10, continuing a downward trend since the peak in staff FTE numbers in 2005/06.
- At an institutional level, year on year changes in staff FTE numbers varied across FE institutions, with almost half experiencing a decrease in staff numbers compared to 2008/09.
