NHS Staff Vacancies at 30 September 2010
The latest National Statistics on NHS Staff Vacancies produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 29 March 2011 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
Statistics on NHS Staff Vacancies include data for Wales as at 30 September 2010. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 26 August 2010.
At 30 September 2010:
- 101 NHS posts had been vacant for three months or more. This represents a 58 per cent decrease on the 243 vacancies reported six months earlier.
- These vacancies account for 0.2* per cent of all NHS posts, lower than 0.4 per cent six months earlier and 0.3 per cent a year ago.
The vacancies in different staff groups were as follows:
- 11 (0.4* per cent of posts) consultant posts – a decrease from 39 (1.5 per cent of posts) six months earlier.
- 11 (0.1* per cent of posts) qualified nursing, midwifery and health visiting staff – a decrease from 65 (0.3 per cent of posts) six months earlier.
- 79 in other staff groups – a decrease of 60 (43 per cent) compared with six months earlier.
* Cardiff and Vale University LHB has reported no vacancies for 30 September 2010 and did not submit data. Therefore Cardiff and Vale University LHB is not included in the calculations for the percentage of all posts vacant at 30 September 2010.
