Aggregate agricultural accounts

Aggregate agricultural accounts are a tool for analysing the economic situation of agriculture and are used to support policy making in the UK and EU. They include the aggregate income of the agriculture sector, known as Total Income from Farming (TIFF), a measure of the performance of the whole agricultural industry.

Other income measures designed to compare performance across different farming types, including Farm Business Income, are also available.

Total Income from Farming in the United Kingdom

These National Statistics produced by Defra were released on 30 November 2011 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority. They present estimates of Total Income from Farming and agricultural accounts for 2010 and previous years.

Agriculture in the English Regions

These National Statistics produced by Defra were released on 31 January 2012. They present key statistics on agriculture at regional (NUTS1) level in England, including agricultural accounts.  Summary measures for the agricultural account by NUTS3 regions are also available.  The latest information is for 2010.
