About the Research and Statistics Division
The Research and Statistics Division provides research and technical advice in support of the Fire, Resilience and Emergencies Directorate by:
- providing expert advice to policy-makers on technical matters
- commissioning and undertaking research to inform policy decisions relating to the operations and practices of the Fire and Rescue Service
- commissioning and undertaking research in support of civil resilience policy
- maintaining the national fire statistics function
- doing statistical work to underpin and evaluate policy
- where necessary, providing the evidence to underpin technical guidance for the Fire and Rescue Service.
