The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) is responsible for business advice and regulation, further and higher education and international trade. It also leads on regulatory reform, innovation, science and technology.
The Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission (CMEC) is a Non-Departmental Public Body established to take responsibility for the child maintenance system in Great Britain.
Communities and Local Government (CLG) is responsible for local government services as well as regeneration of areas. It is also concerned with housing issues (including homelessness) and planning.
The Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is responsible of sports and creative industries. It is also concerned with the historic environment and tourism.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is responsible for the defence of the country and for international military operations. It also manages the defence estate, military equipment and logistics.

The Department for Education (DfE) is responsible for school-level education and children’s services.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is responsible for energy production and supply. It is also concerned with ways to limit the effects of climate change.
The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) plays a crucial role in formulating and delivering economic development policy in terms of Enterprise, Social Economy, Innovation, Energy, Telecoms and Tourism in Northern Ireland. In addition, the Department has responsibility for ensuring a modern regulatory framework to support business and protect consumers.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is concerned with securing a healthy natural environment. This includes promoting a low carbon and efficient economy, ensuring a thriving and secure food and farming sector and supporting development of sustainable rural communities.
The Food Standards Agency is an independent department responsible for protecting the public's health and consumer interests in relation to food.
