Fire and resilience research
The Department for Communities and Local Government carries out research relating to the operations and practices of the Fire and Rescue Service. This work is led by the Reseach and Statistics Division, a part of the Fire, Resilience and Emergencies Directorate.
Other parts of the Department for Communities and Local Government are involved in fire safety, which includes fire research. The Sustainable Buildings Division deals with the technical aspects of the Building Regulations. Research is carried out to ensure that the Building Regulations, and associated guidance, have a scientific basis.
