Monthly Statistics of Building Materials and Components
The Monthly Statistics of Building Materials and Components includes the latest detailed information on selected building materials and contains monthly data on price indices, bricks, cement and concrete blocks; and quarterly data on sand & gravel, slate, concrete roofing tiles, ready-mixed concrete and imports & exports of construction products.
The latest edition of the Monthly Bulletin is available in PDF format (PDF, 513 Kb) or Excel format (XLS, 623 Kb) (containing an additional table showing annual breakdown of EU/Non-EU imports & exports). The Construction Market Intelligence (CMI) team also produce an accompanying commentary (PDF, 125 Kb) to coincide with the release.

In line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics, we publish supporting documentation to assist users:
In 2010 we conducted a review of the publication to (PDF, 255 Kb) :
- ascertain user needs and views on the statistics
- identify options for change
- estimate compliance costs incurred by regular data inquiries
- assess compliance with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics
- examine whether data collection methodologies used are fit for purpose
Following the review, CMI have acted on the recommendations including commissioning the Office for National Statistics Methodology Advisory Service (ONS/MAS) to address some of the recommendations from the 2010 review. In July 2011 MAS published their findings (DOC, 636 Kb) .
