This series provides estimates of UK seafarer numbers, including some statistics of non-UK seafarers qualified to serve on UK registered vessels, and indicative projections of the future number of UK certificated officers. Statistics are updated annually.

The statistics are based on a combination of administrative sources and industry surveys. For further details please refer to the annual publications.

National Statistics

These statistics are currently being assessed by the United Kingdom Statistics Authority (UKSA) to determine their compliance with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics. An assessment report was published in June 2012 (Report 221).
