Office of Manpower Economics (OME)

The Office for Manpower Economics (OME) provides an independent Secretariat for each of the six public sector Pay Review Bodies, the Police Negotiating and Police Advisory ( England & Wales) Boards and the newly-formed School Support Staff Negotiating Body.

The Head of Statistics Profession is located within OME’s Research and Analysis Group (RAG), which provides support across all the pay bodies which OME supports. 

The other GSS statisticians are bedded out in the secretariat teams and do not report directly to the Head of Profession; a matrix management structure is in operation.

GSS statisticians at OME are primarily responsible for ensuring that the public sector pay bodies base their recommendations on the best available (timely, accurate, comprehensive and accessible), impartial statistical advice.
