Office for National Statistics (ONS)

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the 'executive office' of the United Kingdom Statistics Agency. ONS is the single largest organisation within the Government Statistical Service (GSS), and acts as the United Kingdom's National Statistical Institute (NSI), taking the lead in representing the UK's statistical interests abroad. ONS is also the UK's main survey organisation and producer of official statistics. The Chief Executive of ONS is also the National Statistician, and all ONS staff work on the collection and publication of statistics about the UK's society and economy.
