Indicators for a Sustainable Food System

Following the recent consultation exercise which finished on 16 October 2009, we have further refined our indicators which will provide a measure of progress in delivering the Food 2030 strategy.

They are categorised according to the same themes as within the Food 2030 Strategy:

  • Encouraging and enabling people to eat a healthy, sustainable diet
  • Having a resilient and economically sustainable food system
  • Increasing food production sustainably
  • Reducing the food system’s greenhouse gas emissions
  • Reducing, reusing and reprocessing waste
  • Having the appropriate research, skills, knowledge and technology

Details of the indicators can be found in our publication Indicators for a Sustainable System [PDF, 7.3MB]

Further information is also available on the indicators in the form of a set of Fact sheets [PDF, 680KB]
