In response to user feedback and the UK Statistics Authority assessments of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) National Statistics, the HMRC Official and National Statistics website is undergoing some changes to improve accessibility. These changes are designed to help users of the statistics site find what they want more easily.
The first change was implemented over the summer and made it more obvious to users where the statistics site could be found from the homepage of the main HMRC website. This was done by changing the leading navigation link that read 'Library' to 'Library, Official Statistics'.
The second change is on a much bigger scale within the statistics site to change its layout, grouping relevant subjects together with new 'themed' headings to help give a clearer sense and better understanding of the information held within each section. Given the complexity of this further change, HMRC also took the opportunity to review the whole statistics site to bring it in line with other areas published by HMRC.
Additional benefits from the changes include the statistics site having a fresh look, getting consistency to page structures and navigation and removing older information to the National Archives, further helping to improve search functionality and stop older information surfacing ahead of the newer information. More work is scheduled for the statistics site to further help the search function.
If you would like to give feedback on the new statistics site once it launches (for which a further announcement will be made on the day) please feel free to use the feedback form.
