I first came across the GSS when I was at university thanks to a placement year spent at the Home Office looking at projections of the criminal justice system. I am now working for the Department for Children, Schools and Families. I have already had several different posts, and my achievements so far include designing and developing a revised model for costing Education Maintenance Allowance and playing a lead role in the analysis of Key Stage 3 Achievement and Attainment Tables (a subject that receives considerable press attention).

You get a real kick out of seeing your figures published in the paper or on a website.  The work that you produce has a real impact externally and to think you’re in the middle of that is great.
