Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG)
Government Statistical Service statisticians working in the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) work mainly in the Analytical Services Directorate (covering housing and planning areas) and in Local Government Finance. A small number are outbedded and work on Fire Statistics, Citizenship, Neighbourhood Renewal and Human Resources. They are responsible for the delivery of statistical information, advice, analysis and publications covering the following key topics/areas:
- Local Government Finance including distribution of grant and monitoring of local government spending (Feeds into National Accounts and HMT)
- Housing including decent homes, house condition and affordability, and homelessness
- Planning statistics including land use
- Equalities, community cohesion, faith, preventing extremism, and the Third Sector
- State of the Cities, Areas of Town Centre activity, New Deal for communities, Places Database and building prosperous communities
- Fire Statistics
