Speed of Processing

The latest official statistics on Speed of Processing (SoP) produced by the Department for Work and Pensions were released on 22 January 2013 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority. Speed of Processing has replaced the old Right Time Indicator, as was set out in the July 2011 publication. Speed of Processing shows new claims and changes of circumstances separately and does not include a combined measure. Volumes of claims, changes and the total days to process new claims and changes accompany the SoP figures.

Speed of Processing measures the average times to process a new Housing Benefit / Council Tax Benefit claim or a change in circumstance of an existing Housing Benefit / Council Tax Benefit claim.
