16/11/2012Survey of Child Maintenance Options OutcomesThe primary objective of DWP Child Maintenance Group is to ensure that the maximum number of children who live apart from one or both parents benefit from an effective child maintenance arrangement (regular, reliable financial support that helps towards a child's everyday living costs). Child Maintenance Options' contribution to this objective was measured through surveys of clients who used the service between July 2008 and January 2012. The primary objective of these surveys was to determine the number of children benefiting from a (private) family-based child maintenance arrangement following contact with the Child Maintenance Options telephone service. The methodology and estimates will be published on Friday, 23 November.Paul March
16/11/2012Child Maintenance Population EstimatesThe separated family population is composed of all families where the parents/legal guardians do not live together and their children are either under 16, or under 20 and in full-time education. Child maintenance is usually regular, reliable financial support that helps towards a child's everyday living costs. The analysis outlined in this paper estimates the size of the overall separated family population, the number of families with child maintenance arrangements and, of these, how many are effective. The methodology and estimates will be published on Friday, 23 November.David Finch
