Stat-Xplore

Stat-Xplore provides a guided way to explore DWP benefit data, ask different questions, and see the results in an interactive chart. Use Stat-Xplore to download the statistics behind the visualisation or share visualisations via social networking tools or through a more traditional approach of downloading a visualisation into a common file format.

This visualisation tool, relating to data on Housing Benefit claimants, is the first phase of Stat-Xplore. In the near future, Stat-Xplore will include the ability of users to create their own bespoke tabulations and will include data on a wider set of DWP benefits.

We would welcome views on Stat-Xplore from users. If you would like to provide us with feedback e-mail Stats Consultation

Benefit Caseloads:

There are two main sources of benefit caseload numbers:

Please use the WPLS data first, and only access the samples if the breakdowns that you need are not available on the WPLS. DWP recommends that, where the detail is only available on the 5% sample data, the proportions derived should be applied to the overall 100% total for the benefit. The Guide to Sources document lists which information is available from each data source and provides more detail.

For more information on the two sources, download this Guide to Sources (76KB) PDF

For information on the differences between DWP JSA statistics and ONS Claimant Count statistics, download this Information on Differences (104KB) PDF

General information on benefit and employment programme statistics can be found within the Statistical Summary. This includes important contextual information including notification of future changes to the series.
