Skills

Skills contribute to economic productivity by enabling the provision of marketable goods and services.  Maintaining a workforce with relevant skills is important for efficiency and ultimately survival of individual businesses or entire industries.  The National Employers Skills Survey 2009 has been analysed in depth and suggests that from the perspective of employers, there are few differences between skills shortages and training in rural and urban areas.
