The Early Years (EY) Census is required from any private, voluntary and independent (PVI) sector nursery with one or more children receiving funding from the Department. The census does not cover Early Years or nursery settings funded by the LA – these children are included in the School Census return. In addition, PVIs without funded children are not required to make a return.
The EY Census is collected annually in January each year.
