Scottish Government (SG)
Within the Scottish Government, most statisticians are part of integrated Analytical Services Divisions (ASDs) - working alongside researchers and economists to produce the full range of information and analysis needed to provide advice to government, business and the people of Scotland. Statisticians work to the Chief Statistician, the Head of Profession for statistics in Scotland. The Statistician Group of the Scottish Government are all part of the Government Statistical Service, and are responsible for the production of official statistics covering almost all topic areas:
- Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
- Business and Industry
- Crime and Justice
- Economy
- Local Government Finance
- Education and Training
- Health and Care: The Information Services Division of NHS National Services Scotland (NSS:ISD) produce official statistics on the health service. The Scottish Government Health ASD carries out its own statistical collections and produces further analyses on other areas of health, complementing the work of NSS:ISD
