Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS)
GSS statisticians and other analysts across BIS and its agencies such as the Insolvency Service, the Higher Education Statistics Agency, the Learning and Skills Council and the Student Loans Company produce both National and official statistics on a range of topic areas including:
- Further education and skills
- Higher education
- Building materials
- Construction prices and costs
- Insolvency
- Union membership
- Regional economic performance
- Small and medium enterprises
- Innovation
They are also responsible for the provision of statistical advice to other analysts, policy officials and Ministers on economic and business statistics, further and higher education statistics, labour market statistics, and a range of related social statistics. Most statisticians work alongside other analytical and policy colleagues but all come under the overall professional management of the Head of Profession for Statistics.
