Personal pensions: contribution and tax relief statistics

HMRC statistics on contributions to personal pensions and the overall cost of private pension tax relief.

These statistics provide:

• the value of contributions to non-occupational personal pensions
• tax relief estimates for employer and individual contributions to personal and occupational non-state registered pension schemes
• Statistics on Annual Allowance and Lifetime Allowance charges

HMRC has renamed the tables:

• Table 1, was previously PEN1
• Table 2, was previously PEN2
• Table 6, was previously PEN6
• Table 7, was previously PEN7
• Table 8, was previously PEN8

Tables PEN3, PEN4, and PEN5 are no longer updated in this publication, but are still available up to 2016 to 2017 below. They have been renamed as Table 3, Table 4, and Table 5 respectively.
