18 June 2021: Revision complete

Revisions to the annual VAT statistics for the tax year 2020 have now been completed.

25 May 2021: Revision announcement

HMRC has made revisions to its historic tax receipts data (financial years between 2015 to 2016 and 2019 to 2020) which will have an impact on VAT statistics. The most recent publication will be revised to include these revisions by the end of June 2021. The latest receipts data is available in the 25 May 2021 HMRC tax receipts and National Insurance contributions for the UK publication. More information on the receipts revisions can be found in the statistics announcement dated 25 May 2021.

About this publication

The consultation on the reduction and consolidation of HMRC statistics publications, which ran between 8 February 2021 and 12 March 2021, has now concluded and the responses and outcomes published.

This annual Official Statistics publication provides information on VAT receipts in the UK, including Home VAT and Import VAT. It also contains statistics and analysis on the VAT trader population and registrations.

Before December 2018, the publication was formerly called ‘VAT Factsheet’ and was published at HMRC’s ‘UK Trade Info’ portal.
