UK oil and petroleum products (PDF)

An overview of the trends in the UK’s oil sector identified for the previous quarter, focusing on:​

  • production and trade of crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs)​
  • production and trade of petroleum products​
  • final consumption of oil​
  • demand for key transport fuels​
  • UK oil stocks​

We publish this document on the last Thursday of each calendar quarter (March, June, September and December).

Quarterly data -​ ET 3.1, ET 3.2, ET 3.4 to ET 3.6

The quarterly data focuses on production, trade and stocks of primary oil and petroleum products, along with demand for key fuels by broad sector.

We publish these quarterly tables on the last Thursday of each calendar quarter (March, June, September and December). The data is a quarter in arrears.

Monthly data​ - ET 3.10 to ET 3.13

The monthly data focuses on production, trade, demand and stocks of primary oil and petroleum products.

We publish monthly tables on the last Thursday of each month. The data is 2 months in arrears.

UK submission for JODI​

International submission of headline data for the previous month, published on the last Thursday of each month. ​

Experimental statistics on average road fuel sales and stock levels

These experimental statistics are based on average road fuel sales and stock levels at sampled filling stations in Great Britain. As part of our response to the coronavirus pandemic, we published the data weekly until Thursday 8 July 2021, and thereafter moved to a monthly publication released on the first Thursday of every month containing daily data up to and including the preceding Sunday.

The intention to move to quarterly publication has been under review and following this, we did intend to publish the first quarterly publication on Thursday 14 October 2021 covering data up to September 2021. This means Thursday 2 September 2021 will be the last monthly publication.

However, currently we are working at pace to support fuel resilience, and in response to the public interest we will now revert to a weekly release of data commencing on Thursday 7 October 2021.

We are grateful for the feedback received so far on our proposed quarterly publication and continue to welcome comments on both the format and scheduling of the release.
