Agriculture, Energy and Environment
Our Agriculture, Energy and Environment domain covers statistics on topics including food and farming; the natural environment; climate change; environmental quality; energy sources, production and consumption; energy prices; and fuel poverty.
Our priority for 2021/22 is food related statistics. Food has always been a topic with wide policy relevance and public interest, but recent events have increased focus on and intensified debate around food. Statistics about food should help users answer key questions about all aspects of food, including how it is produced, distributed and consumed (the supply chain) and cross-cutting issues like food insecurity.
This year, we will review the public value of UK food statistics, with a focus on insight, coherence and how they are used in the public debate. We will also assess the trustworthiness, quality and value of statistics on the people and nature survey and flood defense spending.
We will continue to monitor the effects of COVID-19 on agriculture, energy and the environment in the UK, and support producers in publishing relevant statistics and data that generate insight on the impact of the pandemic.
Contact our regulators for this domain David Ross and Gemma Keane for more information.
