Cancer Patient Experience Survey
The Cancer Patient Experience Survey
The Cancer Patient Experience Survey has been designed to understand cancer care; to assist NHS organisations to make improvements to cancer care; and to provide information to charities and other groups that support cancer patients.
The survey is currently conducted by Picker Institute Europe on behalf of NHS England and NHS Improvement. The results are published on the Cancer Patient Experience Survey website.

In 2020, we had to balance the importance of understanding the cancer experience of care against the focus on maintaining and recovering clinical services during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, the Cancer Patient Experience Survey in 2020 was offered to Trusts on a voluntary basis.
Reports for each of the 55 participating Trusts are available here. These are designed to inform commissioners and providers about their patients’ experiences and to identify areas for local improvement.
Given the number of Trusts that participated and the regional variation in the impacts of the pandemic during the sampling period (April to June 2020), it was not appropriate to produce a national level report or individual CCG reports. As there were no Cancer Alliances with full Trust participation, it was not possible to produce Cancer Alliance level reports. Therefore, the results from the Cancer Patient Experience Survey in 2020 cannot be used to make comparisons at a national or Cancer Alliance level with previous years.
