Results from the first three years of the survey have been published in a series of annual reports. This bulletin combines results from the 2004/05 and 2005/06 surveys. Combining two years of data improves the precision of the estimates due to the larger sample size used.
The key points are:
- 6 per cent of adults reported being vision impaired.
- Vision impairment was more common in women than men and increased with age.
- In general, vision impaired adults reported higher rates of illness than the rest of the population.
- Vision impaired adults were more likely to smoke and less likely to meet exercise guidelines than the rest of the population.
