Higher Education Student Enrolments and Qualifications Obtained at Higher Education Institutions in the UK, 2006/07
On 10th January 2008, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) published the Statistical First Release 'Higher Education Student Enrolments and Qualifications Obtained at Higher Education Institutions in the United Kingdom for the Academic Year 2006/07'.
The Release provides details of student enrolments and qualifications obtained by higher education (HE) students at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the UK.
Key results for 2006/07 and comparisons with 2005/06
Enrolments
- The total number of HE enrolments at UK HEIs was 2,362,815, 1 per cent higher than 2005/06.
- The number of HE enrolments at Welsh HEIs was 131,765, an increase of 2 per cent.
- Full-time enrolments increased by 3 per cent and part-time enrolments increased by 1 per cent.
- At Welsh HEIs there were 62,960 first year enrolments, an increase of 4 per cent.
- Both full-time and part-time first year enrolments at Welsh HEIs increased by 4 per cent.
Qualifications Obtained
- At UK HEIs there were 319,260 first degree graduates (1 per cent increase).
- At Welsh HEIs there were 17,630 first degree graduates (1 per cent increase).
