A selection of key data included in a Statistical Report produced by the National Assembly for Wales' Education, Training and Economic Statistics Unit in relation to the fine grading of level 2 at Key Stage 1.
- The distribution of pupils at grades A - C at level 2 is fairly consistent in English reading and writing for each year between 1996 and 2000.
- In 2000 the highest percentage of pupils achieving grade A - 40 per cent - was in Mathematics. The lowest at grade A - 23 per cent - was in English writing.
- Across all tests/tasks a higher percentage of girls, than boys, achieved grade A in 2000. The greatest difference, of 8 percentage points, was in English writing task (21 per cent compared with 13 per cent0. The smallest difference, of 2 percentage points, was in Mathematics (26 per cent compared with 24 per cent).
