A pilot national Value-Added model for secondary schools, 2002

Following the consultation on the future of the publication of Secondary School Performance Information, the National Assembly for Wales proposed to work with schools and Local Education Authorities to develop a national value-added model for schools in Wales.

The first phase of the project is now complete, and a pilot national Value-Added model has been provided to LEAs and schools for consultation. The pilot concentrates on secondary schools and provides a prediction of performance based on Key Stage 2 to 3; Key Stage 2 to 4; Key Stage 3 to 4 and Key Stage 4 to A/AS level. It also generates school-level progress indicators (value-added ) for the same periods.

The spreadsheet and guidance notes are available to download, along with an example of a spreadsheet with data entered, below.

We would welcome any comments on the pilot predictor and value-added models. A proforma for providing feedback is available to download below, which can be returned to us either by post or email.
