This Bulletin provides information about students enrolled at Welsh higher education institutions (HEIs) taught through the medium of Welsh and staff teaching through the medium of Welsh for the academic year 2005/06. The data included here are taken from the Higher Education Statistics Agency's (HESA) Student and Staff Records.
Summary
- There were 3,910 student enrolments at Welsh HEIs with some teaching through the medium of Welsh, 5.8 per cent greater than the number in 2004/05 (3,695).
- 3.0 per cent of student enrolments at Welsh HEIs had some teaching through the medium of Welsh, compared with 2.9 per cent in 2004/05.
- In 2005/06 there were 3,615 Welsh domiciled students at Welsh HEIs with some teaching through the medium of Welsh, an increase of 6.5 per cent compared with 2004/05 (3,395).
- There were 535 academic staff able to teach through the medium of Welsh and 415 academic staff teaching through the medium of Welsh.
