Welsh Health Survey: Datasets

Detailed data are available for analysis.

An anonymised version of the main dataset, together with supporting documentation, is deposited with the UK Data Archive each year (some information is removed to ensure confidentiality is preserved). These datasets may be accessed by registered users for specific research projects. A simplified introductory dataset containing a small number of key variables which may be helpful for new data users is also available. Some examples of uses made of the data by researchers are shown on the website. The UK Data Archive is accessed via the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) website.

From time to time, researchers may wish to analyse more detailed data than is available from the Data Archive. Requests for such data will be considered on a case by case basis. For further details, contact stats.healthinfo@wales.gsi.gov.uk

The Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) is a national data archiving and dissemination service. A wide range of information and support is available for data users at ESDS - this includes general guides on accessing and analysing data, as well as guidance on downloading and using WHS data from the UK Data Archive. It also includes details of events and training. Registered users may also explore datasets, including WHS, online using Nesstar.
