Programme of Assessment
The Statistics Authority has a statutory responsibility to prepare and publish a programme for the assessment of statistics. The attached programme covers the sets of statistics to be assessed in 2013.
Part A indicates those sets of statistics that we plan to re-assess during 2013, the statistics already having been assessed in the first cycle of assessment. Over the coming weeks, we will work with statistical producer bodies to agree the scope and timing of the individual assessments, and expect to publish an updated programme once timings have been determined. We have given an indication of which producer bodies’ statistics we expect to be in scope of each assessment, but it is possible that the scope could be extended to a wider set of bodies, or narrowed. In determining scope, we will also look to include any related official statistics published by the relevant producer bodies, for the sake of completeness and efficiency.
Part B lists some sets of statistics that we will assess for the first time. These are a mix of assessments that have been (or we expect to be) requested by producer bodies, and some residues from the first cycle of assessment. The Statistics Authority is currently considering which other sets of undesignated official statistics it might consider be put forward for assessment during 2013, and expects to add to this programme in due course.
The Authority will keep the programme under review. We will formally publish any material revisions as appropriate.
