Breach Reports

A breach of the Code of Practice occurs when an organisation producing official statistics fails to meet the standards outlined in the Code of Practice for Official Statistics and where an exemption or exception had not been approved by the Head of Assessment, as required in paragraph (xii) of the Preamble to the Code.

It is for the relevant senior statistician of the organisation producing the set of statistics to determine whether a breach has occurred, and to document it appropriately. Any breaches in relation to equality of access, integrity, confidentiality and release practices must be reported to the National Statistician. This page contains details of the breaches reported to the National Statistician and the UK Statistics Authority by producers of official statistics, in relation to such breaches.
