Welsh Statistical Liaison Committee

The Welsh statistical liaison committee (WSLC) promotes liaison and consultation between public sector organisations in Wales concerning data and statistical issues. The committee meets four times a year and includes members from across the public sector.

Terms of Reference

The Welsh Statistical Liaison Committee (WSLC) has four aims:

  1. To inform the Statistical Directorate and the wider Government Statistical Service, of the requirements of public sector
    organisations in Wales for statistical material from central government sources.
  2. To help public sector organisations in Wales to keep abreast of, and influence, developments in government statistical work, particularly that for which the Welsh Government is responsible.
  3. To promote liaison between public sector organisations, in the development and use of datasets required by organisations in Wales.
  4. To identify issues, including those relating to the collection of statistical data from, and dissemination of data to, public sector organisations, and methodological issues of common interest to central and local government, which need to be considered by other groups or by working groups arranged by the WSLC; and to monitor progress as appropriate.

Membership

Membership of the Committee consists of representatives nominated by:

  • local authorities
  • Health Solution Wales, Wales Centre for Health, National Public Health Service and Health Information Analysis Team
  • Local Government Data Unit – Wales
  • National Parks
  • Wales Council for Voluntary Action
  • Welsh Language Board
  • Welsh Local Government Association
  • Welsh Government
  • Welsh Fire Authorities
  • Welsh Police Authorities.
