The latest statistics on GP Referrals produced by the Welsh Government were released on 6 February 2013 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on GP Referrals received at Welsh Local Health Boards for a first outpatient appointment include data for Wales for the period August 2012 to December 2012. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 2 January 2013.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • the number of GP referrals for a first outpatient appointment received at a Welsh Local Health Board was 49,392 in December 2012
  • this is a 24.7% decrease compared with November 2012, at an all Wales level

All figures relating to December 2012 are provisional.
