Biographical details and Ministerial responsibilities of the Minister for Finance.

Our role is to support decision-making, resource allocation, research and debate within government and the wider community by providing reliable and efficient statistical services.

To be recognised as a centre of excellence for (official) statistical and geographical information about Wales. We aim to be recognised for:

  • our role in supporting and co-ordinating the wider statistical partnership;
  • the quality of our advice;
  • the quality of our data and the relevance and impact of our analysis.

The four key cross-cutting priorities which underpin much of what we aim to deliver are:

  • Understanding the needs of our users and developing a sustainable plan for the future – to respond to user engagement and propose ways to achieve what users need as resources become scarcer.
  • Working across analytical boundaries – to fully realise the benefits of this integrated approach for our users both internal and external.
  • Making best use of technology to make information accessible – to improve the way users can find and access the information they need.
  • Developing our outputs and compliance with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics - to build on the improvements we have already made to a number of our outputs. Using the good practice identified, and the guidance available, each topic area will look to see how these can be applied to our outputs.
