Health Maps Wales, update February 2013

Release 12 of the mapping tool Health Maps Wales is available from 20th February 2013. This update gives access to more information than previously available. The website is provided by NHS Wales Informatics Service on behalf of the Welsh Government.

This latest release includes:

  • Hospital admissions data (2011-12)
  • Substance misuse (2011-12): alcohol attributable hospital admissions, alcohol-specific hospital admissions
  • Mortality data (2011): mortality (all causes), cancer mortality, cardiovascular disease mortality, injury mortality, respiratory disease mortality, alcohol-related deaths
  • Births (Office for National Statistics) (2011)
  • Births & Babies (National Community Child Health Database) (2011)

The majority of the data can be mapped across Wales at Middle Super Output level (areas with between 5,000 and 11,000 residents) and for individual years, some however are only available for combined years or at higher geographical levels due to the size of the numbers. Also, data can be mapped to the Local Health Boards.
