Our statistical outputs contain a comprehensive set of information on health, health services and social services in Wales. They cover a wide range of topics including waiting times, complaints to the NHS and Mental Health Services.

NHS community health includes statistics on maternal and child health service activity, immunisation, community contraception, abortions, and the Community Dental Service.

NHS finance statistics provide a retrospective analysis of broken down into 'programmes', with a view to a greater understanding of where the money is spent.

NHS hospital facilities and activities gives summary information on bed use and activity in the NHS.

NHS performance statistics cover waiting times, complaints, delayed transfers of care, time spent in accident and emergency departments and ambulance response times.

NHS primary health statistics include GP and dental services information, prescribing and pharmaceutical services, sight test statistics and analyses of calls to NHS Direct Wales.

NHS workforce presents summary information on staff directly employed by the NHS in Wales, posts vacant for three months or more and sickness absence.

Vital events provides statistics on births, conceptions, deaths and life expectancy.

Public health provides links to sources of public health statistics.

Mental health services is a summary of information on patients admitted to mental health facilities and results from the census of patients in NHS mental health hospitals and units.

Welsh Health Survey provides information about the health and health-related lifestyle of people living in Wales.

Social services summarises information on assessments and social services provided to children and adults by local authorities in Wales. These services for children looked after by local authorities; registers of people with disabilities; information on the directly employed staff of social services departments; and the Children in Need (CIN) census.

Email notifications for health and social services statistics

We have launched an email service for health and social services statistics outputs that we publish. The emails are sent on day of publication to users of our statistics, to let them know the latest figures. If you would like to receive these notifications, please contact stats.healthinfo@wales.gsi.gov.uk. You will be sent a short form to select which of our outputs you would like to receive emails about.
