Right to Buy Sales, January to March 2009

Statistics on the number of right to buy sales of Local Authority (LA) dwellings completed in Wales include data for the quarter January to March 2009.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 18th March 2009.

Claims

• During the January to March quarter 2009 there were 145 RTB claims.
• RTB claims have increased by 33 from the October to December 2008 figure of 112 and decreased by 452 and more than halved from the same quarter the previous year.
• There were a total of 629 RTB claims during 2008-09 which was 1,648 (72 per cent) less than during 2007-08.

Completed sales

• There were 14 completed RTB sales during the January to March quarter 2009. This was 18 less than the previous quarter and 109 less than the same quarter the previous year.
• Overall there were 157 completed RTB sales during 2008-09, which was 662 (81 per cent) less than during 2007-08.
• On average only around 57 per cent of claims ever reach the completed sales stage.
