This series presents information on licensed vehicles and new vehicle registrations. They cover motor vehicles that were licensed, or were subject to a statutory off-road notification (SORN), in Great Britain. Most of the statistics are derived from data held by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), which administers vehicle registration and licensing records in Great Britain.

A small range of additional tables have been obtained from other reputable data suppliers, in order to provide wider context.

Most of the tables are updated annually in April, with an accompanying statistical release. A few tables are also updated quarterly, with statistical releases in June, September and December. These tables are listed in the relevant quarterly release. One table, VEH0150 is updated monthly.

Most of the statistics are for Great Britain, except for table VEH0170 which covers the United Kingdom.

PLEASE NOTE: A supplement to this series has been released introducing new experimental statistics produced by analysing the results of MOT testing held by the Vehicle & Operator Services Agency (VOSA), linked with DVLA vehicle information. The Department would be grateful for feedback on this ‘work in progress’ to help inform its further development.
