The latest National Statistics produced by the Welsh Government were released on 27 February 2013 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website Statistics include data for January 2013. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 30 January 2013.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • there were almost 36,000 emergency calls, 5.6% fewer than in December 2012
  • of these, more than 14,600 were Category A (immediately life-threatening) calls, a decrease of 5.9% over December 2012
  • 59.6% (8,559) emergency responses to Category A (immediately life-threatening) calls arrived at the scene within 8 minutes, below the all-Wales target of 65% for the eighth successive month
  • snow affected parts of Wales during January 2013 and a number of major roads were closed as a result - this is likely to have affected performance
