The latest revised national statistics produced by the Welsh Government were released on 27 February 2013 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website Statistics include data for the year 2011- 12. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 7 September 2011.

The key points from the 2011-12 release show:

  • during 2011-12 expenditure on private sector renewal continued to fall, with overall spending (including Disabled Facility Grants (DFGs)) down by 3 per cent on the previous year to £54.1 million(r)
  • excluding Disabled Facility Grants, around £18.4 million was spent on home improvement and repair during 2011-12 with the majority (86 per cent) via direct assistance by authorities in the form of grants and loans
  • expenditure on Mandatory Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) fell slightly during 2011-12 to £35 million(r) , representing almost two thirds of all the money spent on private sector renewal activity during 2011-12
  • the number of renewal areas in operation and the dwellings within these areas increased during 2011-12, however, overall expenditure in these areas decreased by 18 per cent to just under £34 million

Revision notes

Following publication of the release we were notified by one of the local authorities that there were errors in the data submitted by the authority and revised data was provided. The revised data related to the number and amount of mandatory disabled facility grants completed by the authority during 2011-12, but also affected the overall expenditure on private sector renewal. The release has therefore been revised (26 March 2013) to take account of these changes.
