New data on Fire and Rescue Service Performance were released by the Data Unit on 23 October 2008.

This Release contains statistics relating to operational issues affecting Fire and Rescue Services (FRS') in Wales for financial year 2005-06 and previous years. The issues, highlighted in this release, consist of Personnel, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety and Operational Activities.

The bulletin contains operational statistics for the financial year 1 April 2004 to 31 March 2005 and focuses on Personnel, Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety and Operational Activities.

This bulletin is the first in a series of annual bulletins presenting fire statistics for Wales. The statistics are compiled by the National Assembly for Wales from reports submitted by all Fire and Rescue Services in Wales to the Office for the Deputy Prime Minister on all fires attended in 2004.

This First Release has been revised to reflect changes to the Living in Wales datasets from 2004 to 2006. These datasets now incorporate some additional variables, as well as corrections of a small number of errors in the earlier data.

The publication covers the period 1993-2003 and provides the latest annual in-depth analysis of fire incidents attended by the UK Fire and Rescue Service. Analysis includes details on location, cause and motivation, information about casualties and false alarms attended.
