The latest statistics on Time Spent in Accident and Emergency Departments produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 20 August 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on Time Spent in NHS Wales Accident and Emergency Departments include data for Wales for the period beginning July 2008 through to July 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 23 July 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • 91.0 per cent of patients spent less than 4 hours from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 1.0 percentage points compared with June.
  • 99.0 per cent of patients spent less than 8 hours from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared with June.

All figures relating to July 2009 are provisional.
